So far I am only building up base layers, apart from the tongue and the eyes (Snout still has a lot of work to be done on it). Once the base layers are built up a final overlay will consist of the fine dog hair/wool which will overlap some of the edges. Although the base layer for the dog coat is white, the final hair/wool has variations in it strand by strand.

I'm having trouble settling on a background colour. I'm liking this result so far but may try whitening it down a bit.

Decided I will now stick with this colour background. There's no right or wrong for the colour, but I have to get on with concentrating on the subject. I will now leave the background alone and concentrate on Maggie. Need to go get some more white paint.

Starting to shape the ears. Still have to add the chin hair.

Happy that the base layers are done. Now applying the top detailing and texture. Still have to go back and do a lot of work on the nose. Zoom in if you want to see the detail.

The major changes are no longer happening. It is now about subtle changes to texture. This picture involves some texture added to Maggies right ear, improvements to nose and chin hair.

I'm thinking she is now about 99% complete. Just have to do final go-over and tidy up.

Background colour change which should now be final.

Final colour was base ivory-fawn tones to highlight. These will be overlayed with final white details.

Now satisfied I have completed the moulding and bases build up. Will give if a rest for a couple of days then comeback and complete it by finalising; shadow work, nose, and body edge/outline. That should then be it finished.

Now only subtle changes happening. Latest work has involved toning down the contrast noticably on the ears and lower body.

Tidying up Maggie's snout

I thought the picture was looking a bit flat, and pale, so I am now adding some more shadow work. At the moment this is perhaps best noticed on Maggie's right ear.
